AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Through our program of extracurricular activities students learn new skills and take on leadership roles. Students may choose from a variety of activities from sports to crafts. Most activities are conducted by the teaching staff. Talented people from our community and professional coaches help to coordinate and run some of the activities and sports. Examples of activities include chess, indoor games, nature club, drama, band, student newspaper, ball games, yoga, taekwondo. Activities/Sport afternoons are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The school soccer and basketball teams train regularly for inter and intra school competitions.
Peripatetic music teachers offer tuition in piano, guitar, drums and other string instruments.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
All GNIS students are encouraged to participate in community service activities through the course of the school year. The aim is for students to experience and develop respect toward others, an active appreciation for the environment, an awareness of community at different levels and growth in interpersonal and social maturity.
EXCURSIONS
GNIS recognizes the value of field trips when used to supplement other curriculum materials. They also provide memorable, unifying experiences for students. Students from across the school are provided with a variety of trips to enrich their whole school experience, both within our local area and beyond. Adequate supervision and safety are our top priority. |
